It's Monday morning, and so I am awaiting this week's SCOTUS rulings with baited breath. With only one more June Monday left this year, rulings in the
three big detention cases (Guantanamo detainees, Padilla, and Hamdi) are due soon.
The fact that it's almost three years after 9/11 will, I think, help the cause of justice. That, and the revelations of prisoner torture may help to protect at least part of the Constitution.
It's a beautiful day here. I'm through with work for the summer tomorrow morning. I'm feeling optimistic, so I'm going to predict 6-3 rulings in favor of the detainees. I don't know... maybe there won't be any rulings on these cases released today and it'll be cold and rainy next Monday, so I reserve the right to change my guess.
Thoughts? Predictions?
