Ferial Masry, candidate for California's 37th assembly district has been out meeting the people she wishes to represent in Sacramento. Over the last few months, supporters have organized meet-and -greet parties where local residents can get to know Ferial up close and personal.
"There is a disconnect between people and their politicians, even at the local level." Masry said. "I want to give them a chance to be heard."
Ferial hopes that this grassroots effort will bridge that gap and allow ordinary citizens to ask questions, raise concerns, and get a chance to hear her message of inclusive, common- sense government.
Each Meet and Greet is organized by a local voter and is open to all residents of all political persuasions.
"It has nothing to do with party. Asserts Masry, Everyone deserves a chance to participate in the political process."
Up coming "meet and greet" event are scheduled for July 29th and 3oth for more information, contact Christopher McGuinness at (805) 300-6129

When Ferial first told me about these events I didn't see what the big deal was. However, I slowly realized she was right. How often do politicans really get out and meet their voters on a face to face basis. Sure, its hard for a senator or congressional runner. But what about smaller local offices? Why can't they seem to get out and let people know the care? Do they feel so safe in their seats to bother with the "mythical little guy?"; or do they figure that no one really cares all that much about local politics?
