The crux of the matter:
When planning on getting drunk and cavorting with prostitutes, it's prudent to remember to not be photographed/recorded doing so.
the mistake Joe made is not his turning into a conservative politician who bailed on democratic and constitutional core values years ago in the interest of getting the votes of conservative soccer moms and dads.
that's not it-- because ninety percent of democrats in Congress have done the same thing and they are not in trouble in terms of re-election. not yet, anyway.
the real mistake is Joe went too public with his affectionate embrace of the bush/neocon cabal. if he were more clever like his democratic counterparts in the beltway, he would have kept much more quiet.
after all, they are getting away with their support of the bush/neocon cabal.
I suspect what we will see with most democrats in Congress is not a more vocal non-support of the Iraq disaster or criticism of bu$hco's seeming lack of a plan to extract us from Iraq-- instead we will simply see more of what we've already seen-- quiet democratic support and continued signing of the massive financial appropriations "needed" to keep the disaster afloat-- just a little longer.
one democratic incumbent down, three hundred to go.
