Wherein I discuss meta crap and dance about the issues...
Here are my suggestions for stopping all the meta crap:
1. [Editor's note:] Dropping number one since some people have politely convinced me I was mistaken. Instead I am replacing #1 with a nice summary: I think if people would quit taking things personally, taking non-credible sources literally, and worrying so much about what other people do, daily KOS would be much more effective tool. And that's what this site is, a tool to use to get things done and inform ourselves and others.
2. Quit linking to raw story, truthout, drudge, and other people who draw their sources from their tin foil hats. (ha ha that would be so nice. i dont think I will link to them any more either.)
3. Get over the F word and other stuff. People are going to use it. I am of two thoughts. If you want to communicate persuasively and effectively, usually the f word and other profanity is not something that will help you do this better. Sometimes, the F word and other profanity is absolutely the only way to get your point across.
4. Quit taking shit personally. Quit making shit personal. Everyone. All of you. Self included. Even Tamifah!
5. Stop all this meta horseshit. If that's why we're all here, to bicker about who troll rates who, and why, and whether that's ok, then we all need to just admit it and fucking go to another site (SUBTLY HIDDEN SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE: YES, YOU NEED TO LEAVE DAILY KOS IF YOU CANT SHUT UP ABOUT THIS SHIT) so daily kos can be about important things like winning elections, exposing Administration lies, communication, etc.
I have directly observed this kind of crap literally killing user communities and their mission in the past. This will take away froom our ability to win difficult elections, organize, and get shit done to save our democracy and make the world a better place. Is that what yall really want? If so, I think we're past the point that you need to be identified, singled out, and politely shown the door.
