Let the hopeless attempts at interpretation begin: the lyrics to 7 songs off Dylan's new album, "Modern Times," have been released.
From my preliminary read, these are my impressions:
-Beyond the Horizon is another perfect love song. Who knows, the music may be a disaster, but the words are haunting, like Ring Them Bells meets To Ramona meets To Make You Feel My Love;
-Thunder on the Mountain has some great imagery, and two clunky lines (rhymes love with glove, which just seems too Momentary Lapse of Reason for me);
-Overall it's much closer in tone and word usage to Love and Theft than anything else.
In sum, I like it.
