...is a ridiculous notion, of course. But I do wonder what a liberal, feet-on-the-ground, mobilized (and perhaps a bit paranoid), unofficial, counter-cultural organization committed to defending the constitution might look like. And I just had a thought of one.
With all this talk of de-funding the courts on this site lately, one wonders -- if such a radical assault on the court system were to actually happen -- must it stop at the federal bankbook? What if there were a standing network of minutemen and women who would step up to the plate, er... pro bono ... at a moments notice to fill in the gaps created by the lack of money (or at least, to whatever extent is possible)?
Hey, if someone were to deputize me, or otherwise grant my involvement some semblance of legitimacy, I'd get a u-haul and some buddies and we can remove a 10 Commandments monument at a moments notice. I think its that important, and plenty of others do too. Congress can keep their money (or maybe I could just send them a bill when reactionary Constitution-bashers are out of power).
So what do folks think? Goofy? Not goofy?
