The AP Headline reads, "EX-AIDE SAYS BUSH DOING TERRIBLE JOB." Yowsah! Clarke used to be in charge of "cybersecurity" for the White House. He's got a book coming out Monday, and it says (you're really going to enjoy this...)
- The Bushies failed to recognize the al-Qaida threat before 9-11.
- They "manipulated America into war with Iraq with dangerous consequences."
- The National Security Leadership met almost a hundred times between the time they took office and 9-11. Exactly TWO meetings were about terrorism.
* After 9-11, Bush came to Clarke and asked him (directly) to find whether Iraq was involved in the suicide hijackings. Clarke's words -- "Now he never said, 'Make it up.' But the entire conversation left me in absolutely no doubt that George Bush wanted me to come back with a report that said, 'Iraq did this." Clarke continues, "He came back at me and said, 'Iraq! Saddam! Find out if there's a connection,' and in a very intimidating way."
Is it me, or is this GOLD??? Coming out Kerry's mouth, it sounds like a 'partisan political attack.' This guy was THERE.
To paraphrase Lee Atwater, the Democrats should "make this guy Bush's running mate."
