In a uniformly brilliant speech, I thought one of the more brilliant aspects was the call for voters to head to
JohnKerry.com. I cannot recall this in a acceptance speech, certainly not before 1996, and I cannot recall it for 2000. Of course, not 45 minute speech can detail every aspect of every domestic and international policy, but a website can. And by directing viewers to head there, he accomplishes two goals:
- As noted above, enlightens potential swing voters or persuadables to John Kerry's positions and various iniatives.
- And perhaps more subtlely, encourages voters to pad the Kerry/Edwards '04 war chest with a little turkee.
The moment we can get them, I would love to see some numbers on the internet traffic to the site. I'm curious as to whether this strategy was effective.
