Some of you may have seen the recent explosion of comments by a certain Pastor John yesterday. If you missed them, check the Hidden Comments. It's a pretty impressive record: the guy has ten comments to his record, all of them hidden.
Some folks found his comments to have a comical, over-the-top quality to them, and wondered if I might be behind them. A couple of us even noticed that he listed his e-mail address on one blog page as "pastordan333..."
Well, so here goes: I am not Pastor John.
Pastor Jon, no "h" and no hate, is my dad. He doesn't have anything to do with this mess, either.
Now, let us review the relevant facts:
Pastor John is a sick fuck. I am also a sick fuck. (Hmm. Not looking good for me so far.)
Pastor John is from Virginia. I live in Pennsylvania.
Pastor John hates homosexuals. I have many homosexual friends, and belong to the United Church of Christ, long an advocate for inclusion in the Christian community
Pastor John hates communists. I performed a wedding service outside of Moscow in 2001. I probably also have an FBI file due to my association with all you pinkos.
Pastor John hates John Conyers. I don't know the guy, personally, but he seems okay. If the Congressman buys me a drink the next time I see him, we'll be just fine.
Pastor John hates immigrants. I hate not being able to speak Spanish or Vietnamese to talk with them.
Did I miss anything he hates? Probably.
Pastor John claims to have been a Vietnam Vet, a prisoner of war, in fact. I was only born in 1968, but I would have marched against the war had I been old enough.
Pastor John claims to be a pastor. I can show you an ordination certificate from the UCC; I wonder if he has a credentialing body standing behind his ministry?
In short: Pastor John is a hate-filled sack of crap. I feel sorry for him, actually. I try to be an inclusive, welcoming, accepting kind of Christian. I blow it sometimes. But I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I have no time for hate.
At all.
Ever.

Update [2005-5-3 9:50:54 by pastordan]: It has been pointed out to me that I have a wife who rocks, while Pastor John might have some romantic difficulties. It's a fair point.
In fact, my rocking wife has another mental health diary up, just behind this one. Drop some snark here, and head on over there.
