I was channel surfing this morning and stopped briefly at the George Stephanopolous program. It was the first time I'd seen it and it was refreshing to at least see people taking turns to speak without yelling over one another.
I don't know the players, I don't follow pundits that closely, but the older gentleman with the bow tie, seemingly a conservative, made a comment that caused me to wake up rather abruptly, something to the effect of:
The democrats can really gain a lot of ground on this spying issue, but the question is, Why aren't they currently screaming for an immediate halt to the spying?
I'm not the one to know the answer to this question but I'd really like to hear from those of you who do. I think it's critical, because once again it seems like we're missing a key opportunity.
There's a fire under these guys, but it ain't burnin' hot enough. Last night Norah O'Donnell filled in for Chris Matthews and was all puffed up about the "new Justice Department investigation" into who leaked the information about the NSA spying, "on the heels of" the Plame investigation. The rethug noise machine is in full swing.
I'm always constantly annoyed by the spin but if we don't grab the bull by the horns, we're not going to get traction. Thoughts?
Happy New Year, by the way.
