When I evaluate his strengths and vulnerabilities as a candidate, Harold Ford always runs up far more vulnerabilities for me. I keep thinking that any of the other four moderate/conservative Democrats in Tennessee's Congressional delegation would probably make a stronger candidate, particularly Bart Gordon. Anyone else agree?
And perhaps most of you aren't aware of this, but in the summer of 2004, country music superstar Tim McGraw expressed his interest in eventually running for Senate...and I'm certain that he's a Democrat based on his adulation for Bill Clinton and other rumors that floated around the Music Row Democrats last year. I'm not sure whether McGraw would run in his adopted-home of Tennessee or his native Louisiana, but considering his built-in connection with "values voters," I think the Dems should be working with this guy in this coming years to hone his skills as a future politician. He could be the good guys' version of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but hopefully with a happier ending than Arnold appears poised to experience.
