I am beyond depressed about this. Diane Feinstein also said she didn't see anything that would lead to blocking the nominee. Are they just going to ask him questions and say they "are troubled", is that all they will do?
I can't believe what I am hearing, is this the mood of all the Democrats? Are they going to allow BorkAlito on the court without a fight?
With a nominee opposed to Roe, and lying to the senators, with the GOP in scandal and the president at 38% approval - I really thought this would be their chance to fight for their country and make their base proud of them again.
If now is not the time to filibuster when is? Is this what all the dems are saying? Do they know how demoralizing it will be to a base that has been through enough in the past 5 years if they lay down on this?
I have always argued fervently with Nader voter types about the Democratic party being worth fighting for - if they let us down on this I will be so disillusioned I might move to Canada. Filibustering Alito is a litmus test for the democrats - if they let this fascist on the court the people who want to fight for them in upcoming campaigns are gonna bolt. If they act like door mats on this one it will split the party and a lot of people are going to look for a third party, and I say that with a heavy heart because 3rd parties are a stupid idea.
