It's been awhile since the Bin Laden came forth with one of his "messages". Seems the last major one was 5 days before the 2004 Presidential Elections . . .
When one looks at the other news of the day, it seems his timing is always so convenient for Bush and the GOP.
Darth Cheney had a major speech scheduled for noon today in New York. Topic: the "War on Terror" and the need for renewal of the Patriot Act. Gee, he also just happened to have an interview scheduled this afternoon with FOX News. How convenient . . .
Pretty convenient timing too that Democrats plan unofficial hearings on the legality of the NSA wiretaps beginning tomorrow and a 40-page legal memorandum is set for release this evening by the Bush Justice Department that will defend the President's warrantless wiretap program as legal. Gosh, good timing again, Osama!
The President is below 50% and on most questions (including Iraq) below 40% in the polls and here we receive a message where Bin Laden mentions American polls about Iraq withdrawal.
As we all know fighting terrorism is the one poll number where Bush is above 50%. A timely message from the terrorists threatening to strike again in America might even give Bush a bump in those pesky American polls. Again, how nice for the President!
It's just amazingly convenient I guess how Bin Laden releases his messages just when they might have a major impact on the American political scene. For a guy whose supposed to be on the run or hiding in a cave he seems to be incredibly astute about what's going on in American politics.
Perhaps in a couple of weeks we'll receive new intelligence that he's actually in Iran hiding in a nuclear facility. That would be incredibly convenient in beginning the bombing there . . .
