I've already put a couple of comments on the Kos about this, but I'm so incredibly pissed off I've decided to write a diary entry about it.
I've always kind of laughed at Rick Santorum. His flip-flopping on intelligent design was hilarious. The irony of heading the Congress Clean-up when he was one of the founding members of the K-Street project was great. Plus he looks like a little boy. But when I saw on this via Atrios I lost my goddamn mind.
Be warned, here the civility ends.
"And yet we have brave men and women who are willing to step forward because they know what's at stake. They're willing to sacrifice their lives for this great country. What I'm asking all of you tonight is not to put on a uniform. Put on a bumper sticker. Is it that much to ask? Is it that much to ask to step up and serve your country."
Where does that fuckwad get off comparing the service of me and thousands of other brave soldiers to putting a bumper sticker on your car. A campaign bumper sticker, no less? How can he be that ridiculous and insulting to the people he claims to support.
And this is Rick Fucking Santorum here. This guy. How dare he. How dare he trivialize 2,222 lives lost nobly for an ignoble cause. How dare he claim support for our troops in one breat and then insult their sacrifice like this in the next.
His number is 202-224-6324. Help me give this guy a headache, please.
