No, this is not a Super Bowl diary.
But now that the filibuster is over, I'm seeing the viseral reaction of Kossacks screaming "betrayal" and "never again" due to the bolting of several key Democrats on the cloture vote.
I must admit, I've wavered on the whole filibuster thing myself. I thought Kerry's call for said filibuster was politically motivated and we shouldn't ignore that. But in the end, I believed that every Dem should jump on board and support the filibuster. Seriously, what did you have to lose at that point?
Anyway, it's over, and it's time to move on. Alito will be on the court. I commend all those who pushed for a filibuster with all their might. You did great work.
That being said, I'm wondering what the over/under will be on the number of Kossacks to do GBCW diaries and "let's start a third party" diaries in the next two days. They are already popping up, and wanted to poll the community.
From my perspective, experience in politics means taking the losses both at the ballot box and on the issues and retooling for the next fight. Hell, progressives have been fighting this fight for well over 100 years. Sam Alito's will come and go...we'll still be here.
But I'm curious...how many do you think will chuck it in?
