Chris Matthews has gotten ridiculous. This time he's defending Bush's damning
statement from April 20, 2004.
Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires -- a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we're talking about chasing down terrorists, we're talking about getting a court order before we do so.
Matthews defense of Bush is an easily provable falsehood, as Media Matters quickly noted.
Is Chris Matthews lying, or does he not know the facts?
It appears that he is ignorant by design. He is a textbook bullshit artist; he doesn't care about the truth. Facts are irrelevant in his world and he will say whatever it takes to push his perspective, which is one of love for Bush. Here is Chris Matthews' quote from the February 6th edition of MSNBC Live.
Well, that's what he said in the past. Of course, that was pre-9-11. And he'll tell you, and he'll say that the Congress gave him authority under 9-11 -- the 9-11 September 14 authorization -- to do what he had to do against the people attacking us on 9-11. He'll say, "Times have changed."
Clearly, Matthews wants us to believe that Bush made the statement before 911. Hell, I think he wants to believe it himself. The problem this time is that the network put him on TV in the "expert reporter" role, and he didn't even know the most basic facts. Please write MSNBC and let them know what you think about Chris Matthews.
