All of you seem to be missing the big picture with this story about the GOP requesting Church Lists in NC. If you would read the last paragraph you would find that the GOP has been acquiring lists of military families. All Americans should be asking from whom?
During my twenty years in the Navy, I received many requests from outside organizations about members of the commands that I was assigned to. The standard procedure was to refer them to the Public Affairs Office where they were routinely turned down because of Operational Security concerns and concerns for the safety of the families especially during deployments. Requests for confirmation of employment were answered but never a blanket list of members of the command. To release such lists is a breach of NATIONAL SECURITY and against Federal Law.
This breach of National Security is where we should be our putting our efforts since the GOP says they are the party of National Security. We should all be asking our lawmakers why someone in the DOD is putting our members of the Armed Services at risk. What would happen if a terrorist oranization got a hold of one of these lists? Wouldn't that be putting the families of our sevicemembers at greater risk? These are the questions that we should be asking.
