Why are Fred Phelps' nutbag crew always conflated with protests against the war in AP articles?
Like this one.
The article makes it clear what Fred & crew are about, but the author also feels it necessary to invoke "protests against the war" several times. I've noticed this in more than one article about the Patriot Guard.
<div class=blockquote>"This is just the right thing to do. This is something America didn't do in the '70s," said Kurt Mayer, the group's national spokesman. "Whether we agree with why we're over there, these soldiers are dying to protect our freedoms."</div>
Argh! this is not about "disagreeing about why we're over there". It's about hate, and irrelevant hate at that.
