Polls over the last few years have indicated that a majority of Americans favor a single-payer government-sponsored universal health care system. Yet, Congress balks at the thought - won't even consider it. Since it arises as an issue every election cycle, Congress included a provision in the Medicare Plan D legislation that polls the public and generates recommendations. They formed a citizen working group to hold town hall meetings and summarize the recommendations. They also have a website where you can complete an online survey - the same survey used in the town hall meetings.
Sounds to good to be true, so far? This working group effort is backed by most hospital and medical organizations. My guess is that doctors and hospital administrators and insurance executives are submitting multiple online surveys to protect their status quo. There hasn't been an overwhelming media blitz to engage the common man, either.

and complete the survey. It'll take you 10 to 15 minutes. I won't tell you how to vote but as they say in my hometown Chicago "vote early and often".
