We predicted it here, with the new threats to abortion rights, and those wingnuts in the Arizona legislature have delivered!
They've voted to ban the sale of women's eggs! (But not sperm. Really. Not sperm.) Because sold eggs can be used for cloning.
Honestly, I wondered if it was a joke when I saw it, but the story says those sweet men of the Arizona legislature, just wanting to "protect" women's heath, decided to fine them up to $150,000 and send them to prison if they dare to sell their eggs! Men are trusted with understanding the risks of selling their sperm and not being punished for it.

I wish I could say I'm sorry, but honestly, I'm afraid we have to go to some of these ridiciulous places for a while in order to get people to wake up to the true stupid, evil, paternalistic shit that the Wingnuts want to do. Otherwise, the reasonable people won't pay enough attention to politics to keep the idiots from getting elected so they can make laws like this.
Here he is, that great man who's so concerned with protecting women's health, Rep. Stump:
"Rep. Bob Stump, R-Peoria, said both measures are necessary to protect the health of women.
He said there is a medical risk from the procedure of donating eggs, from both the hormones injected into women to produce multiple mature eggs and the harvesting procedure.
"I would wager there's not one recorded instance of someone dying from donating or selling sperm," Stump declared during the House floor debate. "In fact, it's more dangerous for a man to cross the street than to donate sperm."
The newspaper notes one classified ad offering up to $24,000 for women's eggs.
Stump is a big opponent of cloning and notes that those bought-and-sold eggs can also be used "for the express purpose of destroying cloned human embryos" for medical research.
The measure will be up for a final vote on Friday.
Okay, Bob.
Thank you for your contribution to protecting my health.
Can we get a stupid test for men planning to run for the legislature now?
