Sweet!
On Tuesday, San Francisco's board of supervisors voted to request that our congressional reps. (Nancy Pelosi and Tom Lantos) take out Bush and Cheney.

San Francisco's supervisors jumped into national politics Tuesday, passing a resolution asking the city's Democratic congressional delegation to seek the impeachment of President Bush for failing to perform his duties by leading the country into war in Iraq, eroding civil liberties and engaging in other activities the board sees as transgressions.

Ok, so I don't expect Pelosi to do this tomorrow. (Or anytime this year, to tell the truth.) I think she would obviously prefer to wait untill after the elections, where a Democratic majority could make her the first female President ever. None the less, it will put some much needed pressure on her to start fighting a bit more. Even without her own potential for personal gain, as house minority leader she still should try to get some converts. Delay isn't calling the shots anymore, so now is the time to move in. The Republicans managed to do it occasionally for 40 years, so there is no reason why she shouldn't be more pro-active. After all, fighting while in the minority is what got Newt Gingritch on the map. Besides, Bush is screwing up so badly we may not have the luxury of waiting untill the next congress takes hold.
This in just a small step, but a trend is building. If kossacs and others can pressure their local governments to do the same, we can possibly get some Republicans if they happen to be in a district where the local government passes a resolution. I don't know exactly how many could be pressured, but since gerrymanderig allows prescincts to cross town and city lines, there must be some Republicans somewhere that have mabey 45% of their presinct in a city that will do this. And since this is an election year with such low approval ratings for the Republicans, I'm sure some of them could be pressured on a local level.
