Here's the steaming poop

The government last night admitted for the first time that aircraft suspected of being used by the CIA to transport detainees to secret interrogation centres had landed at British military airfields.

After months of refusing to answer questions from MPs or the media, it disclosed that two aircraft known to have been chartered by the CIA landed 14 times at RAF Northholt, west London, and RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire between October 2003 and May 2004.

Whaat? Our government lies and got caught?? Unfortunately another example how our nation is failing to win a war of ideals by failing to live up to them.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Tip jar (4.00)
Tip me, or don't, I'm too embarrassed by my government to care at this point.

If you get a chance, try the Francis Coppola "Sofia" blanc de blanc sparkling wine, almost tastes like a cider, like straw, I guess.

If you want, check out my my lame blog, it's not very political, just random thoughts about my life, tech, rock n roll and booze.

  •  I disagree (none)
with the premise of your poll.  Sorry.  We're not in a war.  We're just killing people and torturing them for no good reason.

There is no "war on terror".  And even if there were, Iraq certainly has nothing to do with it.  The reason we can't seem to "win" in Iraq is that there is no way to win because it's not a war.  I'm not sure what Bushco wants.  Total capitulation and obedience by a foreign people?  Unlikely.

Let's be honest, here.  Bushco is not fighting a war.  It's abusing our troops love for their country in some kind of wierd power-play.

    •  That's why " " was used (none)
There is an ideological cold war going on between western and Islamic values(as portrayed by extremists).

It might not even be a cold  war, but a soft war. It's not a war you can win with bullets, bombs and ignoring the rule of law; but by living up to our ideals.

  •  Long diary. (none)
You might want to beef up the commentary before the real diary police jump on you. :)

It's not that they don't know Jack. It's that they don't know him on a first-name basis. :)
