Okay, here's the problem: there are only so many ways and so many times we can read or write diaries or blogs about the Senate Democrats and what the hell is wrong with them. I don't know about the rest of you but I've reached "saturation point" after "saturation point" and they just keep topping themselves.
This week we've seen Feingold's censure resolution actually draw such anemic support that (as Glen Greenwald pointed out in his excellent post yesterday) it actually has a smaller number of Democratic supporters than the concurrent vote for censure of Clinton. I'm not going to rehearse the comparative arguments or pull out the unbelievable Lieberman/Pelosi quotations; others have done that elsewhere. No, I think it's time to go right to the sodium pentathol.
More below (with sardonic poll):
What I want to do is capture a live Senate democrat, hold him or her in a butterfly net indefinitely, and find a way to coerce the truth out of this person.
What I want to know is very simple: Why? What conceivable reason can there be for the Democrat's unbelievable weakness and capitulation? I've heard all the theories and I want to see what happens when we use truth drugs. I would be interested in people's pre-experimental theses about what we'll find out, so please address the poll below:
