Last Wednesday March 8 Linda Greenhouse came to Albany, NY to talk about the Rehnquist court. Greenhouse is a pulitzer prize winning journalist who has been covering the Supreme Court for the NY Times. The
Legislative Gazette reviewed her talk which she gave at the State University of NY as part of the university's visiting scholar's program. The report of her talk can be found on page 21 of the Gazette which can be downloaded as a PDF file
here. (Warning - it's the entire issue)
I rather wish I'd been there; I'm sure it was a fascinating talk. I can't help but pull one quote from the article.
She laughed off a question about the 2000 presidential race debacle, saying "My label for Bush v. Gore is a `bad hair day.'"
(more below the fold)
Now I'm sure Greenhouse in the context of the full evening's speech wouldn't come across as being so flip. At least I hope so.... I mean really, the one decision from the Rehnquist Court that put Bush into the White House and started us down the road into our current national nightmare, is just a bad joke? Is that what she really thinks? And if so, could that explain some of the other reporting we're getting from the Times and the rest of the MSM?
