The headline made you look, didn't it.
Now imagine the headline was true.
The truth is, we could take our country back, if we really wanted to. Sure, it's easy to log onto dailykos or any of the hundreds of other blog sites out there and just bitch. But what if we quit bitching and decided to really make a difference?
Just listen to the news. It's happening all over the world, where average people are turning out in the streets to demand change. Just tonight, the story was playing out in Ecuador where tens of thousands of average Ecuadorans had turned out in the streets to tell their president they don't want another trade deal with the U.S., and their president is listening to them. Not long ago, the story was played out in Lebanon, and in the Ukraine. When people turn out in mass to demand change, change happens.
It could happen here. Imagine. Five million average Americans pouring into D.C. from all over the country, Calling for accountability for a White House that is bent on destroying everything that was good about our nation. A White House that countenances torture, that spies on its citizens, that misleads into illegal wars.
Imagine five million people in D.C. Surrounding the White House, wall to wall people extending for a mile. The Capitol utterly surrounded by wave after wave of Americans intent on taking their country back from the barbarians who have trashed it. Demanding accountability. And if we don't get it, we tell them we'll be back, with 10 million the next time.
It would shock the media establishment to their core. It would totally change the debate in this country, and it would let the rest of the world know that their are Americans who share their fears about the dangers of this rogue administration. We would show the power of the netroots, and we would make history.
What would it take? Organization, and five million people giving up a weekend to engage in the most uplifting and important act they could ever take as a citizen in this country.
Who's in?
