I'm no psychiatrist or psychologist, but I'm a decent student of human nature.
There seem to be levels of "crazy,", and Dick Cheney may be slipping into deep levels.
Rubber suit-territory.
Cheney is so used to lying he simply can't tell the truth anymore. About anything. And, it has now reached a level of absurdity as to call into question his contact with reality.
Below, I'm going to quote something Cheney told Bob Schieffer last weekend on CBS "Face the Nation." It was a safe setting for Cheney, with a right-wing enabler in Schieffer lobbing the scripted softballs to Cheney. Nevertheless, it was spectacular how emboldened Cheney felt.
Asked about rumors he might resign, Cheney replied:
CHENEY: Well, I made sure both in 2000 and 2004 that the president had other options. I mean, I didn't ask for this job. I didn't campaign for it. I got drafted.
Let me remind everyone Cheney personally conducted the Vice-Presidential search for Bush in 2000, and came back to Bush with one name as his ultimate recommendation: Cheney himself.
