Now that George W. Bush has
given up on Iraq, saying someone else will have to decide what we're going to do, or what will count as "victory," we have to deal with the international consequences of the victory our president has just handed al Qaeda.
Osama bin Laden said he wanted us in Iraq. George W. Bush quoted Osama bin Laden saying that he wanted us in Iraq. The two great butchers of this Lost Decade agreed that the mother of all battles was in Iraq.
And our guy just quit.
This means the only enemy left is you.
First of all, we have to understand why Bush gave up this week. It finally dawned on the Bush adminstration, or rather what few unqualified sycophants still remain in this administration, that they don't have a clue what to do with Iraq. The
magical thinking that underlies all of late 20th-century/early 21st-century Conservative thought (anarcho-capitalism as a cover for strip-mining a nation of its wealth and resources) did not prepare them to deal with an enemy that does not live in the American media universe.
The DC Democrats, for instance, are in infinitely superable enemy. They live squarely in Karl Rove's fantasy land. They believe what he tells them. Every opponent of Bush is a far left liberal. They know that. Everyone knows that.
The Iraqis, however, don't watch FOX News. They have their own answer to the red Welfare States' daily lobotomy, a cornucopia of endless outrage known as al-Jazeera. Thus, all the bombs and missiles of Republican framing and lying landed on other Americans (i.e., you), while the enemy who daily kills and maims our troops in Iraq ('cause that idiot put them there) was not harmed. Not one whit.
You can't just Swiftboat the insurgency, and that's the only trick The Party has had up 'till now.
The Party knows this. Or rather, they know this now, after massive loss of life and limb and the isolation, impoverishment, and humiliation of America gave them a very expensive opportunity to learn what they would have known had they not been compromised by two generations of Magical Thinking.
At first, the Party tried to just pave over it for a while, hoping for a break. But now, The Party understands that it has to unload the disaster that is Iraq. They will have to weaponize their failure.
For the last several years, the primary tactic of The Party was to hijack 9/11 and crash it into the Democrats. Just as Bush failed to heed direct warnings of this kind of attack, the Democrats never did respond even after they had been attacked over and over. The Party weaponized their failure on 9/11 by using the fear it produced. Every time The Party gets in trouble, they ratchet up the fear.
The Party is using bin Laden as muscle against you. What're you gonna do about it, lefite?
The Party is weaponizing their failure in Iraq, too. They don't have the political capital to fix Iraq and they don't have a plan to fix Iraq and so they're just going to use Iraq against the Democrats. George Bush has planted it like a car bomb in Washington DC. If the Democrats take Congress in 2006 or if they take the White House in 2008, Iraq will be waiting for them. It'll blow up outside the Capitol this year or it will take out the White House two years from now. The question will be "Who Lost Iraq?"
Outright embezzlement by The Party in Iraq will now be replaced by monkeywrenching of the highest order. Civil War is indeed a "good thing," for The Party. The Democrats who arrive in power, either this year or in 2008, will think they've arrived on Arrakis to find booby-trap after Harkkonen booby-trap. The Party will do everything it can to make Iraq worse and drive up the price of oil.
Note that second point.
Lower production was always the point. The energy interests that made Bush even before he was born need oil to stay high and slow now, rather than going quickly for less. In the 1990s, they were making less money and we were going through the oil quicker and quicker. Now, alternative energy has become cheaper in some places than fossil fuels. That was bound to happen. Better to keep the price as high as possible for as long as possible. That is the only desireable outcome for the Gulf States and the American President they own.
Your pensions can be forgotten. Your tax-returns can be bought. At the highest levels, identity-theft will be the model for both the state and commerce. You and your potential for surplus-extraction are known and your ability to obstruct it is being removed. Your vote, your contribution, your debt, your consumption all maximized for efficient use by your betters.
Nothing changed today. The left-blogsphere did what it does (volunteers spreading out, collecting and exchanging information since American journalists don't anymore) and the right blogsphere did what it does (top-down obedience of craven followers denying the obvious until it can't anymore). They are part of the larger, older media machine and we are just a bunch of privateers out to take what we can. Most days they win because their content wins. Today, the left blogsphere just took out another drone.
But all the other drones are still there and the people who cringe before the drones still have jobs and nothing has changed.
Nothing, of course, unless you mercilessly exploit the momentum you have right now to take the jobs of the people who made this possible. That's right, I said their fucking jobs. The pressure must be on to utterly ruin the people who make this possible.
This is a war for the monopolization of terror. Right now, what passes for a journalist in this country may be annoyed by us, but they're scared shitless of Them. Make an example. Take a scalp. Haunt, hound, and harrass until your own conscience is frayed because you know damn good and well that our enemy has none.
This is a war for the monopolization of terror. If we lose it, we're looking down the barrel of state terror.
The institutional media and the DC Dems will never come around to us until they fear the anger of a desperate American majority more than they fear the coordinated brownshirting of a privileged unAmerican minority. Until we can make them sing our tune for a change, The Party continues building your cages in front of God and everyone.
