(UPDATE II:
Well, different poll now. (DJ calling Condi a bad name...)
We'll see if the "gay adoption" poll makes the news tonight. Thanks for all your help. I know it ended with more votes in the "yes" column! If anyone sees this reported, could you please send me a heads-up. Thanks.)
At least that's what the poll in the Channel 5/Daily Herald is saying. By a wide margin, too. If you'd like to give your opinion, go here (now a different poll - see UPDATES) and scroll down a little.
I don't get it. A dear friend of mine from high school and his partner are in the process of finding a birth mother. They are successful, caring, wonderful people who will make excellent parents.
In fact, they have had to go through an incredibly rigorous process. Since I'm a teacher, I can tell you that my job often hinges on the job parents are doing. What would our country be like if all parents had to go through such a rigorous process?
But to deny a child a home solely because the parents happen to be gay? We have a very long way to go in this country.
UPDATE:
In an old Chicago tradition, it appears that you really can vote more than once.
