Good morning, and may you not be fooled again. Welcome to Saturday Morning Garden Blogging, Spring Seed/Plant Exchange Edition.
Mmmmm, have we been having some marvelous weather. Except for a day or two where the winds were a little strong, I've had a marvelous week of puttering about with temperatures in the 60's. The snap pea seed and spinach are planted in the veggie patch. The delivery from Dutch Gardens is planted in the front yard. The dahlias are potted and under the metal halide light downstairs.
And the hyacinth are in their full glory. Damned, does anything smell better than hyacinth on a fine spring day?
By popular demand, this is the plant/seed exchange of garden blogging. We did one of these last Fall, and a fine time was had by some -- I got some lovely hostas and daylilies, seed for lupine (they haven't sprouted yet), and Siberian iris. If you see something you'd like, contact the offerer by e-mail and arrange for the physical exchange.
Here's Arwen the Terrible contemplating what we may have to share from Casa de Frankenoid.
Actually, some one could be very lucky, thanks to a mistake made on my Dutch Gardens order. See, whoever packed the order was one product-number off. I ordered Pink Accent dahlia, #30669.
What I received was the Striped Duet dahlia, #30668.
That's very different, huh? Dutch Gardens is sending me the right dahlia, and told me to do as I liked with the Striped Duet. So I'll ship these three dahlia tubers to the first person to e-mail me, with "Garden Blogging/Striped Duet" in the re line.
I also have some extra hollyhock seed that I snagged off a stand of red hollyhock last Fall. I can't guarantee that the hollyhock will be red -- they cross breed very easily and there are tons of hollyhock here in urban Denver -- but they will have a strong amount of red tones in the flowers.
Last, I still have some datura seed collected last fall.
This is a night-blooming plant that is very fragrant.
So, happy Spring, and remember to change your clocks tonight!
