In a press release sent out today, Senator Russ Feingold announces that he supports full marriage equality.

I'm glad that Sen. Feingold has the courage to be so clear. While most progressive elected officials are wishy washy on this issue, with many supporting "unions" but not "marriage," those on the right make no bones about their opposition to gay marriage. I think that's a big part of why polls show more Americans oppose marriage equality than support it -- there simply aren't a lot of leaders on the progressive side of this issue. If more elected officials will join Sen. Feingold as leaders, my hunch is that many voters who are ambivalent about the issue will follow. Thanks, Sen. Feingold.
