Mitt Romney has faced a tough go of it on his quest to become the next President. I mean, just look at it! What, with all the work of actually being governor, how is one supposed to be able to have to time to run for President? Sometimes he cares about Massachusetts, but usually only to give lip service to bigots across the country, like when he supported
supportedthe Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's decision to effectively ban gay marraige to out of staters based on a racist 1913 law that hasn't been enforced in decades. It will prevent Massachusetts from becoming "the Las Vegas of same-sex marriage," how eloquent of him! However, things seem to be looking a little better for him after the recent big news:
near universal health insurance in the Bay State.
Of course, people who don't have health insurance will be forced into buying it on their own, but that doesn't serve to help him, does it? So, we'll ignore that pesky, unimportant issue. After all, being the Governor of just about the only state to have health insurance for everyone - as law - without any serious committment by businesses (this whole process almost got derailed because of a $300 yearly fee for employers who don't cover it) has got to be a boon for any contender's campaign. In fact,
some think this is going to be a
"political gold mine" for Romney.
Well, pardon me from spoiling all the fun for the all-time greatest governor who didn't even live in the state they were elected in. Mr. Romney (he can't be referred to as Governor at this point), it's time to fess up: your role in this whole health care thing is small. To be sure, you deserve to be commended for publically supporting this proposal. I'm sure it helped move the bill forward, even if there was enough support to override a potential veto.
However, Mr. Romney, you need a reality check before you gloat all over the country (instead of doing your job and dealing with us pesky Bay Staters you so-often love to criticize). Like I said, health care reform in Massachusetts was a done deal, be it signed this week or next year. The fact is, Mr. Romney, you aren't running for reelection in Massachusetts because chances are you would have lost. Wouldn't that have made you a little red in the face. You'll be a one term governor running for President as a Republican from Taxachusetts. Heck, you even welcomed the recently-fired Andy Card of BushCo to unseat your Lt. Governor in her quest to capture Massachusetts. That doesn't really help the Romney legacy, does it?
Just a few years into office, will you become as bored as President as you are as Governor? The public needs to know...
