The
New York Times is
reporting that the Senate will soon vote on Sen. Frist's (im)migration bill, possibly tonight. One of the bill's provisions would allow:
Those who have lived in the country at least five years would be put on a path toward guaranteed citizenship, provided that they remained employed, paid fines and back taxes, and learned English, a senior Republican aide said. The aide said this group accounted for about 7 million of the roughly 11 million illegal immigrants believed to be living here.
Payroll taxes paid by an employee amount to about 7 1/2% of earned income. The employer also is required to pay about 7 1/2% of payroll. Is there a provision in this bill that will force those that hired illegal aliens to pay their back taxes too?
Perhaps you should call your senator and ask.
