I got it, but just barely
Ahh it was a beautiful evening yesterday wasn't it? It was in the 60's, I had just had a dinner which couldn't have been good for you (thank you philly cheesesteak), and was on my way to the B&N to finally get my hands on a copy of CTG. Sure I should have executed on the signed copies available through this fine site, for I know it would have been a simple click, type, arrive! But I just didn't think I could wait (sure seems like I wanted though, not like it came out yesterday). Anyhow, onwards to B&N. I arrive. I go right up front (this is where it should be no?) There's a bunch of books for $5 up there (including the rolling stones ON the rolling stones), but no CTG. So I try non-fiction... looking around I say to myself "hell where IS the non fiction".... So I go up to the all knowing (right!) book store clerk. Woman, white, mid 30's, stocking shelves with fine copies of the book on the Pope John Paul. There's already about 50 up there, but I guess another 20 NEED to be there too. ME: Excuse me, do you have the new book about the democratic party called "Crashing the Gate" Store Lady Stocking the Pope Book: Huh? Me: Crashing the gate, it just came out. I'm sure you have plenty of copies. SLSTPB: Who wrote it? ME: Jerome Armstrong and Markos (Sorry Markos I didn't want to butcher your last name) of the website DailyKOS, you know... SLSTPB: of what? ME: Daily KOS SLSTPB: Hmm..not sure. Let's go check the computer. (walk to computer) SLSTPB: How to you spell it? ME: Crashing the Gate. I don't know, it might be listed as CTG. SLSTPB: Ah yes, I think we have ONE. ME: Sweet. (we wander over to the current events section in the BACK of the store). Hark! Between a copy of books from 2003, I finally get the ONLY COPY OF CTG IN MY LOCAL GIGANTIC B&N. This thought scares me, that we only got one copy. SLSTPB: (saying slowly ... after my joy celebration) Anythign else i can help you with? ME: How about Friedmans "The world is Flat" SLSTPB: HUH?? (goes back to long haired dude at the register) The world is flat? LHDATR: Yea, that's up front. ME: Cool LHDATR: NO prob. Note! I also bought Ariana Huffingtons book Pigs at the Trough (First Edition hardcover) for $4.99 and Thomas Friedmans, and Thomas Mann's Death in Venice ($2.99 Hardcover). I'm suprised I made it out alive. They must have thought I'm a gay commie liberal wonk. I'm just a democrat that likes to read.
