Once again, people who want to continue living in ignorance, seek to impose their blindness on everyone else.
From this mornings Boston Globe, we learn of parents who object to the teacher reading material from a book that explains about different types of marriages, including -shock horror - same sex marriage!

While it is their right to not have their child present when such material is covered, it is not their right to seek to deny everyone else access to this material. This form of censorship is backed by bigoted groups such as the Parents Rights Coalition. To quote the article "The latest incident has renewed the efforts of Waltham-based Parents' Rights Coalition to rid the state's schools of books and lessons that relate to homosexuality, and led the school system to reemphasize its stance on teaching about gay marriage and related issues as part of larger lessons on diversity and tolerance." So these neanderthals want to deny children access to the promotion of diversity!
The tell-tale quote from the parent was ''By presenting this kind of issue at such a young age, they're trying to indoctrinate our children. They're intentionally presenting this as a norm, and it's not a value that our family supports." In that case the schools had better get rid of all books about the Civil Rights movement as that too is indoctrination and not a value that such people could support. How about shredding all books related to the Revolutionary War (of which monumental events took place in Lexington) because they promote the idea of activist groups standing up to established government. Give me a break! Just because you don't like something does not mean that you have to put your sheltered views on everyone else!
