Check this out:
Three days ago Congressman Andrews signalled his full intent on raising the price of gas. He actually stated this straight out.
"I have co-sponsored H.CON.RES 177, a concurrent resolution that would authorize an embargo on Iranian gasoline. Economic pressure from rising gasoline prices would create political fallout aiding the forces of change."
- Congressman Andrews, April 26, 2006

If his bill passes into law, gas prices might well rise further than today's prices since that is his explicitly stated intent. While he wants to use this as a lever for iranian discontent, any further price rise in gas, especially one within our direct control, is going to foster discontent by Americans paying at the gas pump too. The gas market is a global one. Price changes echo everywhere.
I wonder if he thought this through. Will our congressmen really be ready to risk angering US citizens further in light of upcoming elections?? Will they really pass such a bill? Andrews could not have thought this through. Or, maybe he did think of this, and will attempt to supress such arguments via the State News Channel (aka Fox)???
I would suggest it is time for smart people to consider and apply financial preparations for the anticipated price increase of gas. I personally give this bill at least a 60% chance of being passed.
