Robin Hayes held a press conference in Charlotte this morning to plug his new E-85 Investment Act bill.
From Charlotte's WCNC:
The act would give motorists more access to E-85, a mix of ethanol and petroleum gasoline. Hayes proposes giving gas station owners a 75 percent tax credit or up to $30,000 to introduce or make more available the 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent petroleum blend at gas stations.
"It is less expensive, it is biodegradable, it is bio-friendly, and it's also more efficient at a higher octane than regular gasoline," said Hayes.
Unfortunately for Hayes, his voting record on energy policy and his relationship with big oil is public knowledge.

Immediately following the press conference, Larry Kissell, Democratic challenger for Hayes' 8th District seat, issued the following statement:
"I'll give him one thing though, he's got guts. It takes a different kind of person to promote ethanol as a viable source of alternative energy today when he voted against a landmark bill that would have made ethanol a reality right here in North Carolina. Today's press conference shows just how slick Robin Hayes has gotten since he made it to Washington ," said Kissell.
And if that wasn't enough, Kissell went on to call Hayes out on his relationship to big oil.
"Apparently Robin Hayes' hypocrisy knows no bounds. He is guilty of protecting the big oil companies. I'm not sure if that's a result of all the campaign money he's taken from them, or the massive amounts of stock he owns in oil companies. It's going to take more than a press conference to convince us that he truly supports alternative energy when we all know he's in the pocket of the oil companies," said Kissell.
Last year, Hayes voted three times against measures that would crack down on gas price gouging {twice on HR 3893 and again on HR 3402} and voted against HR 6 that would have increased investment in new sources of energy like ethanol.
Voters in the 8th District wake up and smell the hypocrisy! Hayes cares about your vote but he doesn't care about you. He'll lie and change his position on any issue to keep his office. Isn't it time we put someone in that seat who actually looked out for our interests above thier own?
