I just recieved this e-mail from the
Jack Billion For Governor campaign in South Dakota, and I wanted to share it with my fellow Kossacks along with a little commentary.
In case you haven't heard,
Jack Billion is running for Governor against conservative
Governor Mike Rounds.
Gov. Rounds is the one who actually signed HB 1215 the statewide abortion ban that was drafted solely to challenge Roe V Wade and does not even include exepctions for Rape, Incest or to protect the health of the mother.
The following are pieces of the e-mails I recieved.
Jack is Campaigning Hard!
Since announcing his bid for governor on April 17, 2006, Jack has put over 6,000 miles on the campaign's 2003 Flex Fuel (E-85) Chrysler Van. Because of your support, Jack has been well received everywhere he's been--Yankton, Madison, Vermillion, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Rapid City, Kadoka, Sissteon, Eagle Butte, Pine Ridge, Clear Lake, Aberdeen, Plankinton, Geddes, and points in between. Not just talking about his vision for South Dakota, Jack has been listening and gathering ideas that he is incorporating into his campaign. Thank you very much !
* H.B. 1215, the recently passed abortion ban, is unconstitutional, expensive to defend, and poorly written legislation.
* Decades of promoting South Dakota as a low wage/low tax state has not worked. We must work to improve education, foster homegrown small businesses, and develop wind energy and alternative fuels. Jack believes in a highly educated work force and entrepreneurs and citizens who invest in their own destinies.
* The state must pick up and expand on the late Governor George Mickelson's work of reconciliation with the tribes of the Great Sioux Nation. South Dakota cannot be truly prosperous unless all of its citizens have educational and economic opportunity.
* No South Dakotan should go without health care. Health care must be affordable, accessible and be of good quality. He will work with health care providers, suppliers, insurers, governments, and citizens to develop a system of covering uninsured South Dakotans.
* An open government is a must in South Dakota, a government where all citizens--Democrats, Republicans, and Independents--are welcome to participate and know what is happening.
I'm happy to see that the Democratic Governor candidate has taken up the fight against the abortion ban, as well as supporting the Tribes of the Sioux Nation.
It seemed that the abortion fight would just be lead by Focus South Dakota, glad to see that the party is taking on the fight too.
We all know that Gov. Rounds will be getting extremist money from crazies around the country to defend his seat, let's help out Jack. As Focus SD likes to say let's show them that their first attack on Roe will be their last
