If you don't have access to subscription-only Capitolwire, you missed the transcript of Monday's PA Press Club Q&A with Republican empty suit Lynn Swann. Below are two highlights not getting much play today (for some odd reason). Swann managed to further wound himself with conservatives AND hand Gov. Rendell a great issue for the fall.
1. Swann standing by defeated Senate President Jubelirer (who just lost his primary, but whose support for Swann was crucial) -- and also the other Republican legislative leaders, including on the House side:
Q: Do you believe Sens. [David] Brightbill and [Robert] Jubelirer should continue to lead the [Senate] Republican Caucus, or should they be replaced? The same question for the House leadership.
Swann: Well, I think they were placed in leadership; until they are elected out and their term is up, I think they should remain in the leadership positions.
2.
Q: Will your property tax plan apply to vacation homes, as well?
Swann: Yes, it will.
So millionaire Swann wants to give other well-off folks a tax break on second homes, probably using money that could be applied to property tax cuts on primary homes. Sounds like a great TV ad for Rendell...
