The Dixie Chicks have released a new CD titled "Taking The Long Way". Have ya picked it up yet?
|
One of the songs on it is called "Not Ready to Make Nice" & that about sums up the attitude of the Dixie Chicks who suffered a serious backlash & death threats in the country music scene when they called George Bush an embarrassment to Texas.
"Just so you know," Dixie Chick Natalie Maines said in 2003, "we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas."
Guess what?
The Dixie Chicks were RIGHT: George Bush is embarrassing the hell out of Texas and WE ARE ASHAMED OF HIM. |
Well, the Chicks are back & you need to hear what they say on the CD & off it regarding Bill O'Lielly, George Bush, and America.
Dixie Chicks' Maines: "I Apologized For Disrespecting The Office Of The President. But I Don't Feel That Way Anymore. I Don't Feel He Is Owed Any Respect Whatsoever."
Damn straight. You earn respect through "hard work" and we all know that President Vacation doesn't like hard work.
I think it's very important that after the recent passing of Senator Lloyd Bentsen, a gentle giant here in Texas and honorable stateman, that we take a look at our public servants (they work for us people, not the other way around).
|
Senator Bentsen brought dignity and integrity to the office and made Texas proud. A Democrat, Bentsen earned the respect of Texans of both parties through good ole fashioned hard work - something we used to honor and expect in our leaders.
He never insulted anyone but as Dan Quayle and the country learned, Senator Bentsen did not take crap from anybody.
Another great Texan was former Governor John Connally (pictured left), who carried the same quiet strength and dignity that used to be synonymous with Texas. The man went bankrupt but didn't whine or (like George Bush) have his buddies to bail him out. He rebuilt his fortune and died a respected and beloved man & Texan.
Just look at that picture! The man can't even fake a plastic smile for the camera - how's he gonna be fake to people?
Senator Bentsen, John Connelly were great men who earned the respect of their peers and the hearts of Texans. |
Now let's look at today's crop (if we must).
What the hell happened to you, Texas? When did you get suckered by a bunch of people who don't even come from here or moved here only for political reasons.
We've got a corrupt, arrogant former Congressman, Tom Delay, who was run out office and state in disgrace after violating numerous ethics violations.
He conned millions from Indian tribes (who got the same effort from him as $1000s would've) and used that money to bribe or bully Congressmen.
When some GOP member of the House Ethics committee actually had the gall to admonish him, he replaced them with his buddies & tried to change the rules of CONGRESS to suit him.
In the end, he blamed the media, the Democrats, and liberals for his downfall, but, as Texas Monthly corrected pointed out, never looked at the real culprit: himself.
Texas, doesn't a real man stand up & admit when he's wrong? At least indicted GOP Congressman Duke Cunnigham had the dignity to admit he was wrong and ask for forgiveness. | |
We've got an aristocratic family, the Bush family, which hails (hells?) from Connecticut, moved to Texas for political reasons - in other words they took a short cut for political - and thinks they are King & Queen of Texas.
George Bush bought a damn pig farm right before he ran for President (months!), put a bunch cows on the property & called himself a rancher. The man is terrified of horses (no joke)! He's bankrupted a couple Texas businesses, traded Sammy Sosa to the Cubs, and has convinced the world that Texans are bunch of batshit crazy morons.
One Senator, John Cornyn, incites and condones violence against judges.
The other Senator, Kaybee Wobbleheadson, doesn't have the brains or backbone to debate her opponent and couldn't hold a light to former Texas First Ladies Ladybird Johnson or Idanell Brill Connally.
And can you imagine how ANY of these Queens would react to life if, like former Governor Connally, hit tough times & went bankrupt?
Do you think ANY of them have the character & stregth to come back like Governor & First Lady Connally did?
The Dixie Chicks were RIGHT: George Bush and the politicians we have today in Texas are an embarrassment to Texas and we should be ashamed of them.
And frankly, damn it, we Texans should also be ashamed of ourselves for letting these morons and crooks represent us.
Member bastropko related a converstion between some ranchers he overheard at a gun store (yeah, out here progressives are gun owners too - hey it's Texas).
Each of them were pissed at Bush & came away feeling like they had been had. Finally, one rancher at the back pipes up, "I told ya he wurn't from Texas!"
Texas, we have been HAD!!

Take a look at this picture of Govnernor Perry & the one above with Governor Connally.
Now throw out our political biases and just use our guts, ok? Y'all remember when you could do that right? It's called the spit test.
You tell me which one looks more full of himself?
Which one looks like he'd rather be doing something else besides taking a photo of himself & which one looks like he put on makeup for the shoot?
Governor Connally couldn't even make a pretty boy smile for the camera!
Perry looks like that car salesman that's waiting to pounce you. |
I don't know about you but seems to me that it don't matter which party they're with but even if they're Republican, they oughta be hard working folks who do Texas proud - not guys who inherit the position.
These crooks, lightweights, and self-serving egomaniacs are nothing compared to the greatness we've had in the past - Democratic and Republican - and they dishonor our heritage by continuing to represent us to the nation & world.
Don't hate the Dixie Chicks because they spoke the truth (well before the Iraq war - god, if we'd only listened).
Be mad at ourselves for letting crap rise to the top - intead of cream.
The Country Music scene stopped playing the Dixie Chicks' CDs, tried burning their CDs, realized CDs don't burn as easily & starting breaking them.
After that brutal rejection, the Dixie Chicks limped along to, oh, Six Million Records Huge.
In other words, maybe in their small world, the Country Music moguls think they are they shit but outside of that small circle, they don't mean shit.
And if they ever lift their heads out of their asses, they'd discover that.
Texas, it's time we woke up to & made our public officials worthy of us.
Go buy the Dixie Chicks CD & go Take Texas Back!
