Stephen Harpen's conservative government is changing our political landscape for the worst. I naively tought that the problems our american cousins are facing was confined south of the 49th parrallel. I have been proved wrong.

He is using Rove's playbook to a tee in matters of silencing the press, ass kissing Big Oil, comprimising our commitment to Kyoto and other enviromental issues, neutering or Universal Healthcare. He is hammering "The War on Terror" Bullshit that will most probably end up as a blunt attack on Canadian's Rights and Freedoms.
I predict he will be the PM that will call on the Notwhistanding clause more than any other PM before.
I was born in the Trudeau Era . I am a proud Canadian, served my country in the Royal 22nd Regiment and in the Air force. I was raised bilingual. I was chastized by the anglos for being a "Frog" and treated as a traitor for being a "maudit anglais".But deep in my core I will always love Canada.
But right now for the first time in my life, I caught myself thinking maybe the seperatist we're right. Not for the underlying philosophy which I totally disagree, but in the matter of conserving my civil rights and those of my future children.
I am in Brazil right now, and I am afraid that the day I will return with my wife, I will not reckognize my country anymore.
I have emotion and gusto. But I am way to "Tin foil" when it come to building a strategy that we, progressive Canadians, could effectively use to make sure all Canadian know the implications of Harper's motions and maybe snap them out of daze and call for another election and kick these assholes out.
But before we give them the boot,we need some intelligent minds that will contribute and come up with a strategies to :
1- Work with the progressive parties (Green,NDP,(the real) Liberals and independants)
2- Start a GrassRoots/NetRoots Campaign to energize the progressives and move the silent majority into action.
BUT ABOVE ALL ...Any and all suggestions how to go about it.
Thanks my fellow Canucks.
Merci je vous aimes.
