FAUX NEWS poll fresh off the presses clearly indicates the luster is coming off the presumptive GOP POTUS nominee Senator John McCain. As the mythical McCain is replaced with the candidate McCain his favorable rating has dipped to 49% versus 25% unfavorable. Not only are these his worst numbers since the 2000 primary season, the favorable is considerably worse the Dems presumptive standard bearer, Senator Hillary Clinton. It only figures to get worse: McCain is a great myth, but under the primary microscope the idea of an independant, bipartisan Republican is as mythical as a Minotaur.
If you look closely at the polls history you see that McCains favorable numbers took off as soon as he was knocked out of the 2000 Presidential race. Remember when the GOP sound machine had us all thinking of "McCain" synonymous with "Looney Tunes"? If you think that the Arizona Sen.s recent public french kissing with the religious right will keep the same thing from happening again I have two words for you: Frist and Bush.
Oh, McCain already has the precious Bush mailing list and the multinationals and arms dealers will backdoor him plent of money for now but the paradym will shift hard in the next twelve months and nothing can shift for McCains benefit.
While McCain has extended his cloak of street cred to Jerry Falwell and others lately he is still right up there with Beelzebub and Hugo Chavez with the 2000 lb. gorilla, Pat Robertson. Meanwhile no one in Washington has given so generously of their self respect and intellectual credibility than Sen. Bill Frist. The heart surgeon from Tennessee seen fit to defer opinion on everything from brain rot to AIDs transmission to the opinion of the Bible translators. Perhaps most importantly Mr. Frist won't be in the employ of the US. Senate next year so he will have two years to apply full time analingus to the Religious Wrong.
As for the governor of Florida, he will also be unemployed as of next January and while commissioner of the NFL might sound like a dream job you can bet Barbara Bush isn't going to here of that when a real job is available. God knows the woman needs a break: first her husband shames the family name, wasting a perfectly good war only to join the "One-Term Club". Then Jr. steals, not one but two elections only to have Nixon like UNPOPULARITY. The Jebster has to come to the rescue. Look for Jeb to announce late next years. The sucking sound you hear will be the last vestiges of support escaping the McCain campaign.
All the while Hillary appears to be surging with an approval of 54%. Of course 42% still hate her but that is lower than she has scored since her Tammy Wynette period in '99. Besides 49% hated Bush with a passion in '04 and how did that work for them?
Where does that leave the 2008 election field? Well, Guilliani is still popular but he is radioactive in the primary because of his liberal views and voluminous skeletons. Mitt Romney will always be Mitt"Who" and Condi will be the first black, female, Republican president the day after she is endorsed in person on national TV by the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. That leaves Hillary/Gore/Kerry going up against Jeb Bush. Everybody knows the third sequel is the worst so the Dems win in a landslide.
