Ever since the disclosures regarding AT&T having provided broad network access to the NSA I have been surprised that more companies didn't express concerns. There are absolutely no assurances their communications aren't accessible and/or recorded.
Here's another major deal with AT&T to provide Voice Over IP services.
If RR Donnelly just printed comic books I really wouldn't care, but they don't. They are a leading printer of financial materials. The kind you'd kill to get your hands on before they become public knowledge.
Now I'm not saying the NSA would use financial results ahead of the market for profit, just that you'd think RR Donnelly would want some assurances about the integrity of their communications. More importantly that THEIR customers would want assurances about the integrity of data floating around on RR Donnelly's network, provided by AT&T.
After all this is what RR Donnelly does:
Publishing and Retail Services:
Logistics: Consolidates and delivers Company-printed products, as well as products printed by third parties; also provides expedited distribution of time-sensitive and secure material, warehousing and fulfillment services.
More importantly, Integrated and Print Services:
Global capital markets: Provides information management, content assembly and print services to corporations and their investment banks and law firms related to capital markets compliance and transaction activities.
Stuff like 10Ks and Prospectuses. I'm sure Big Brother treats this with the respect it deserves. And if they DID feel the need to record and analyze it to prevent a terrorist attack, they'd be sure and tell us about it in 50 years or so.
