I'm used to thinking of Markos as "kos" the blogger. Yesterday a friend in San Francisco sent me this review of a live performance by Markos which I found inspiring. This friend would I think make a great blogger and addition to this community, with a little encouragement.

"Yesterday at 5:30pm, Markos Moulitsas gave a talk at the Commonwealth Club.
"He was (and I'm sure still is) terrific. He did refer to his dailykos blog, but mainly was a call to action for the liberals (I guess the word now is progressives).
"He spent a little time dissecting the roles of the various media outlets including TV, text messaging, email, radio, blog, internet, MySpace, newspaper -- to bring the audience up to speed. Then he pointed out some of the ways those outlets 'blew the cover' of the exaggerations and lies from the right wing machine(s) [several of the examples were also in his book: Crashing the Gate] and did so within hours (not days or weeks) of the incident.
"He stressed the importance of individual involvement and said the Democrats need to emulate the Republicans by making politics and political meetings a social affair. The Republicans use the church to gather together like-minded people and their families. The Dems hold stodgy meetings using Robert's Rules of Order -- Markos points out that the Robert's Rules of Order needs to be totally tossed out allowing the meetings to be more of a gathering (which includes the entire family) to brain storm and allow the participants to 'own' the meeting.
"His command of the nation-wide political scene was impressive, and in spite of the fact that he sounded like he was in the throws of a head cold, he had an upbeat, organized, clear method of speaking.
"Well, as you can tell, I enjoyed his presentation."
