The announcement today of the death of al-Qaeda leader Abu Musab al Zarqawi should be met with tempered excitement. It's no mistake that on this CONSERVATIVE SITE just 20 some-odd hours before the US air-raid that wiped the earth clean of this dirt-bag,
an article was published which indicated that the al-Qaeda leadership was sick and tired of Zarqawi and his continued sermons bent on killing Muslims (specifically Shiite Muslims).
For almost three years the US with the assistance of the Iraqi people has not been able to find Zarqawi, let alone come close enough to kill him. But it seems that when Bin Laden wanted him taken care of in a mob-style hit, he just picked up his satellite phone and called the US Special Forces. It seems that Al-Qaeda has now figured out how to use the US military to do its bidding.
This is a win-win for Al-Qaeda. Zarqawi, which reportedly had pissed off most of the global network leadership, is gone. He went down in a dramatic conflict with American Forces, so he is now a Martyr for the cause. And finally, the US will undoubtedly get additional support for the war effort, extending Al-Qaeda's real-life, no cost training facility in Iraq.
Of course, the pundits and newscasters around the US will mark this as a great victory, which ultimately it is! He is gone, lets see if this milestone actually decreases the flow of dead and wounded US servicemen and women into a feeble health care system.
