According to the Australian Broadcasting Company, the next country on our "To Invade" list
just might be Somalia, as there are fears that it might become a safe haven for Al-Qaeda. Details on the flip.
According to the article, "earlier this week the Islamists won and the warlords were forced to flee. Now the capital is ruled by supporters of Islamic Sharia courts and that's of concern to US President George W Bush."
Wait. Wouldn't you think that we'd be anti-warlord? Wellll....
Ironically, this year's fighting was fuelled by the belief that the United States was funding the warlords group, calling itself the anti-terrorism alliance. The US Government has refused to confirm that, but there's a strong indication that American operatives were funding the losing side to the tune of $100,000 a month.
Somalia's interim Government Spokesman, Abdirahman Denari, says the country wants to fight terrorism, but not the way the US was doing it by hated warlords in what some call a proxy war against Islam.
Well, our funding the warlords sure sounds like US foreign policy. And why fight a war on 2 fronts when you can fight one on 3? (Or 4, or 5, or 6?) And where are we getting the troops for this fight? The article concludes on a nice and happy note, too.
But in the meantime, Islamic leaders have vowed to create a bloodbath if the United States even contemplates stepping in.
Not that that will stop us. We'd be fighting them in Somalia so we don't have to fight them here, I guess.
