I've been reading the dairies about Armando's outing, not a nice thing. There is also the meme that is constantly floated that "those anonymous bloggers are always hiding behind their screen names". And, that by hiding behind these names they are somehow invalid, their views the stuff of asylums. What the attackers are doing, the outers, the critics are engaging in -- is nothing less than an assault on the grand tradition of American discourse.
Alexander Hamilton, considered the first of the conservatives, and founding father, is looked upon by the right wing as we look on Jefferson.
His Screen Name was Publius.
He split time blogging with John Jay and James Madison. They all used the same account apparently. Even now, we're not quite sure who wrote 12 of the federalist papers that are still being used to shape the nation.
That's right, Alexander Hamilton was a coward. If he thought his ideas were so great, then he should have signed them.
George Clinton is another coward, not the purveyor of funk, but one of the many founding bloggers. His Screen name was Cato, some right wingers named an institute after him.
Samuel Bryan, Screen Name Centinel, was also yellow. He blogged about how the states should have more rights and that a strong federal government would inhibit freedom. Republicans think that these ideas are stupid to this day.
There was also this real sick Founding father, he blogged all the time, but pretended to be a girl!! That sick fuck's name is Benjamin Franklin.
Why did all of these pansies use fake names? Did their mothers cut their hair, or dress them funny?
They used pseudonyms because it strips away preconceptions of the man or woman leaving only the idea behind. Too often we are blinded to truth just because we don't agree with person who uttered it. The founders knew this.
This let's a baker or a butcher enter the debate with any politician or general and the playing field would be level. That's what makes us who we are. A nation of laws, not men, of ideas not reputation.
The Right Wing Blog that outted Armando has done a disservice to the public discourse. And, have ignored a great American Tradition that helped shape this nation.
