The creation of the group Constitution Obstruction Undermines People
COUP began with a few simple ideas about how America should be. The thoughts have flourished from worries that have gripped myself, and from people whom I've chatted with over the course of the Bush regimes' installation by the Supreme Court. The COUP ideal became a passion with articles being printed about how the Bush administration started an illegal spy program domestically on American citizens without search warrants.
The principle of COUP became an even larger idea when I read a case about a couple being removed and arrested for wearing anti-bush t-shirts in West Virginia at a rally George W. Bush held at a town hall. The article mentioned that trespassing charges were placed on the couple but those charges were dropped by the judge. I continued to search for similar cases revolving around this Bush regime and the more I searched, the more I found. The more I found, the more frightened I had become over our rights being taken away. I then wanted to become an activist against oppression and I wanted my freedom! I wanted my government brought back under the supreme law of our land, the constitution.
Alex Young, 25; Karen Bauer, 38; and Leslie Weise, 39, attended the meeting at the Wings Over the Rockies Museum. They were removed from an event simply for having a bumper sticker on the vehicle that said, "No More Blood For Oil". A secret agent removed them from the place and violated their first amendment right.
In Iowa there were two school teachers in their 50's, Alice McCabe and Christine Nelson, that were barred from Bush rallies in 2004 and were arrested, and strip searched for wearing a shirt and buttons that favored the Democratic rival John Kerry and for vocally criticizing the illegitimate president. Again the first amendment violated in this case. Not to mention the Fourth amendment with the unreasonable strip search of these ladies.
Loyalty oaths were a popular thing for the Bush/Cheney team during the 2004 election year. Some residents were refused tickets to hear the illegitimate Vice President in Albuquerque unless of course they signed an oath to endorse George W. Bush for re-election. This happened again, still 2004, in West Virginia to two college students, Jeff Rogers and Jessica Williams where they were denied entry to a speech George W. Bush was giving. You can read more about these cases at First Amendment Center web page.
The more I read about these types of cases the more exasperated I became with George W. Bush and his minions. Since becoming politically active I have disliked George W. Bush. However, over the passing years not only have I grown to dislike him even more, I have become tremendously anxious of the mad man he seems to be and the authority he seems to want to acquire. He stops at nothing to seize what he wants. That has become chillingly apparent and no law makes a difference to a man who wants to be dictator. He is the decider let us not forget that.
A man who wants to use quotes from history not from our founding fathers but from a man who was a Marxist. Vladimir Ilyich Lenin was the one who once said, "You are either with us or you are with the terrorists." A quote George W. Bush used himself addressing a joint session of congress and the American people on September 20, 2001. If you take time to go through the speeches that G.W. Bush has given you would find that they are similar to those from totalitarian states and dictatorships in history's past. This is a man that does not want to protect or defend the constitution. He wants to be rid of it, it slows him in the true agenda he has. Actions over the years from this Bush regime say nothing else except that he wants dictatorial powers.
I am an American. I have big dreams. (I have big ideas that need to reach across 50 states!! I just hope I can pull these idea's together). I only hope that the creation of COUP will restore our government back under the rule of law so that future generations do not live under a King or a dictator forcing them to live in a way they probably would not want to. We can dream together, we can join together, and by doing that we'll bring change together! (remember it is all under construction)
