Two weeks ago, in a effort to sweep away the problems of his administration, President Syphillis and the Christian Right, came together for a proposed amendment that would've define marriage as being of one man and woman. The amendment didn't have a prayer, but when you're both desperate and a servant of the Christian Right, like President Syphills, you'll pull out all the stops.
Homosexuals were the perfect ploy to try and sway the American public away from the REAL troubles that plague this once great country.
American troops dying in Iraq under false pretenses, why care? Tom and Steve want to marry.
American troops killing Iraqi civilians, who gives a rat's flying fuck? Gays want to settle down just like all us straight people. We got to rise up and stop the "evil" homosexual agenda.
What a crock of shit.
The trouble is that the Christian Right could gain strength and penetrate the electoral process, like they did in 2004. The Christianist Wing of the GOP is a Cancer. A virus that has no conscience, and no remorse. Spreading a disease until the body becomes virtually useless. Funny, because, that's how the country is starting to feel. Virtually useless.
One of the things I've noticed about Conservatism, is the continuing contradiction that swirls around the ideology.
Conservatives are addicted to spreading freedom all over the world. They're freedom addicts and their drug of choice is war.
Yet, George W. Bush, who's goal is to spread freedom throughout the Middle East, is willing to use OUR constitutiion to prevent people, Americans, to choose how to live their lives.
The Administration claims that we must remember that every American must be treated with tolerance, respect, and dignity.
What?
If that's the case, why make an attempt to castrate the Civil Rights of millions of Americans?
Why does that do to our image which has already taken a beating in the last 5 years.
The nation founded on "We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal," is withholding those truths because we want to appease a bunch of fear-mongering bigots on the basis of religion.
To make them sleep better at night, knowing that Homosexuals won't be allowed a place at the table.
So, my question to the Bush Administration what defines Civil Rights?
Please don't ask Tony Snow.
At a news Conference, when asked about what defines Civil Rights, Snow Job, was baffled.
Q: You mentioned civil rights. Are you comparing this to various civil rights measures which have come to the Congress over the years?
Snow: Not--well, these--it
Q-Is this a Civil Right?
Snow: Marriage? It actually--What we're really talking about here is an attempt to try to maintain the traditional meaning of an institution that has maintained one meeting for-meaning for a period of centuries. And furthermore-
Q: And you would equate that with Civil Rights?
Snow: No, I'm just saying that I think-well, I don't know. How do you define Civil Rights?
Q: It's not up to me. Up to you.
How sad is it that the face of the Administration can't define Civil Rights.
And, what's equally sad is, the party that's supposed to protect Civil Rights, haven't stepped up to the plate and actually defended Homosexuals and their right to marry.
Because, the Dems are afraid to piss off Middle America. Playing politics has been the downfall of the Dems, plus lack of testicular fortitude.
No longer can we be a Freedom-loving, Freedom-spreading nation and at the same time strip Americans of their basic Civil Rights. It's a clear contradiction of what this nation was founded on.
Then again, we've spent over 150 years to right the wrongs of the pass. We can't afford to move back into old and despicable habits.
What Defines Civil Rights?
Well, I believe it goes something along the lines of protections and privileges of personal liberty given to all citizens by law.
But in George Bush's America, Civil Rights are just words that don't mean a damn thing.
