UPDATE: As kaleidoscope points out, the two are captured soldiers and
potential hostages.
Good god. Seven US troops have been wounded so far in an all out search for the 2 American soldiers taken hostage by insurgents Friday.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The U.S. military said Monday that seven American troops have been wounded, three insurgents have been killed and 34 detained during an intensive search for two missing American soldiers.
Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, a spokesman for U.S. forces in Iraq, said fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles and dive teams had been deployed to find the two men. The men went missing Friday during an attack on their checkpoint in the volatile Sunni area south of Baghdad that left one of their comrades dead.
It is absolutely pathetic that our military has been so corrupted and misused and beaten to the core that we now
are no longer able to protect our own men at our own checkpoints.
Let's face it. There is every possibility, if not this time then the next, that our soldiers will be tortured and a videotape will be made available. This is the post-Abu Ghraib phase of the War and it is going to get rough. We have deployed over 8,000 troops to find the two hostages, and we're losing more troops doing it.
I hope Cheney and Rumsfeld and Rove and their band of merry chickenhawk dipshits rots in hell.
