Barry Welsh is the Democratic nominee for Congress in Indiana-06. A lot of people don't give him much of a chance, but I think they're wrong. First, some internal polling is showing otherwise. Second, Barry has been walking the District and constantly running into people who say 'I'm a Republican, but I lost my job (or am worried about my job, or am having trouble making ends meet) and I've had it with all the talk about abortion, instead of taking care of business. So I'm going to do something affirmative, rather than just blogging in the echo chamber where we all agree. That is not to castigate everybody here, but instead merely to observe that the blogs can be a beginning to action, rather than the end.
Everybody here is invited to my home this weekend. I know only the Hoosiers will be able to get here, but everybody is welcome. If you're in Chicago, or Louisville, or Cincinnati, or places in between, hop in your car and come on over. We'll feed you and give you wine.
My wife and I are hosting a meet-up with Barry from 4 to ?. It's not a fundraiser (but bring your checkbook and give Barry a chance to impress you), but a meet-up. Why? Because Barry wants to meet you, to talk to you, to mine you for ideas, and to recruit you. He knows you're passionate, that you care, and wants to know how to harness that to defeat one of the most conservative (and, by the way, dumber than a box of rocks) Republicans in the House.
So join us, won't you? You can find the info at Barry's site, just look for my name, and June 24th. And if you can't come, please look between your couch cushions and see if you can find a ducat or two for the cause.
